Nagasaki (長崎), the city of Emotion, Love, Peace because of atomic bomb. Nagasaki is the second city of Japan that is suffering atomic bomb attacked after Hiroshima during 2nd World War. It is located in north-west in Kyushu Island Japan.

Nagasaki is known for the Peace Park, magnificent attraction of Huis Ten Bosch, China town, UNESCO World Heritage “Oura Church”. If you are in Kumamoto and planning to visit Nagasaki or vice-versa. Then, here are all the tips you’ll need to know for your first visit to Nagasaki.

How to get in: Public Transport

Nagasaki has both an international as well as a domestic airport. So, it’s easy to access from any part of Japan and across world such as; Shanghai, Seoul, Tokyo and Osaka by air.

By Air:

  • Shanghai – 1 hour 35 minutes
  • Seoul – 2 hour 25 minutes
  • Tokyo, Heneda Airport – 1 hour 50 minutes
  • Osaka, Itami, Kobe Airport – 1 hour 15 minutes

By Train:

  • Tokyo Station – around 7 hours
  • Osaka Station – around 4 hours 30 minutes
  • Kyoto Station – around 5 hours
  • Fukuoka (Hakata Station) – around 2 hours

Gunkajima is known as Battle Island and the formal name is Hashima. It is abandoned from 1970’s and then all of the residents left the island.

Amazing night view of the Nagasaki City. Mount Inasayama is 333 m high mountain and just close to Nagasaki city center. It is said that the night view from Inasayama is Japan’s top 3 best night views from the mountain.

You can reach by bus, car, rope-way. I recommend you to go by rope-way and enjoy the amazing view of Nagasaki City in day or night! Cost are 720 Yen (one way) and 1230 Yen (round trip).

Oura Church is a symbol of faith. ‘Hidden Christian sites in Nagaski’ backed for World Heritage status in 2018.

It is easy to access by train from Nagasaki Station, just 30 minutes. Entrance fee 1000 Yen

Nagasaki Shinchi Chinatown is in the downtown of Nagasaki city and the oldest Chinatown in Japan. It has verity of Chinese restaurants like; Chanpon, Udon.

During Chinese New Year, Chinatown becomes the main attraction because of “Nagasaki Lantern Festival”. It is a very popular events in which thousands of lanterns illuminate in the downtown of the city.

As a souvenir or desert must try Castella. It is delicious steamed sponge cake. There are various flavored with different ingredients like; honey, green-tea (maccha), chestnuts.


If you are in Japan or planning to visit Japan, then you must visit Nagasaki “City of Emotion, Love, Peace” with your family or friends. It’s worth to stay at-least 1 night in Nagasaki.
